Hello 1A Parents!

I hope you have had a wonderful weekend! Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This week in Reading we will be working in our Daily 5 stations.

In Phonics we are working on the short vowel sound of u.

In Grammar, we will learn about verbs that do not follow the -ed rule but change their spelling in the past tense like eat/ate, give/gave, see/saw and write/wrote.

In Math, we will finish up the first section in Chapter 5 and have a quiz on Thursday.  We are working on numbers 1-100, number words, and how we group them into tens and ones.

In Religion, we will learn that Jesus is called our Good Shepherd because he loves and takes care of us like we are His sheep.  We will learn that a parable is a story with a hidden meaning.  We will also learn that Jesus loves us even when we do wrong, but it is important to express sorrow for our sins and ask forgivness.

In Science, we will continue our unit on the human body.  We will learn about all of our different organs and organ systems.

In Social Studies, we will learn what it means to earn a living.  We will learn about our basic needs for food, shelter, clothiing versus our wants.  We will also learn about the different kinds of shelter.

Have a wonderful week!

God Bless,

Melissa Gilligan
