Parent Perspectives

The St. Bernadette Pre-K program not only provided our son with academic and social skills above-and-beyond those he needed to start kindergarten, but his ability to express himself through words, art, song, and his love for God soared while attending this Pre-K program.  As a family, we benefitted greatly from the detailed and consistent communications we received from Mrs. Hanson and we always felt involved and welcome in both the classroom and the school.  It was always obvious that the teachers were there because they were called to be there and that they have a profound love for what they do and for our children.  Our son loved going to school every day and he looked forward to new adventures with his teacher and his new friends.

After two years at a different preschool in the area we decided our daughter needed a change before she entered kindergarten. We went to many Open Houses at various schools and were immediately attracted to the Pre-K program at St. Bernadette. From the start, we felt welcomed by both the school staff and the Pre-K lead teacher, Mrs. Hanson. Our daughter was welcomed to participate with the other students while we were able to observe the daily program. We were impressed! On the way home from the Open House, our daughter is the one who excitedly said, “I want to go there!”

Now that we are enrolled we have not been disappointed and are even more impressed with the work that is done in this program. Mrs. Hanson is a master at meeting students where they are academically and emotionally. Students are challenged with daily programs of music, science, Spanish, computers, and religion. This challenging curriculum is supported with stories and lessons of our Catholic faith. We appreciate that our daughter is able to expand both her academic and faith knowledge at the same time. We have also seen great improvement in our daughter’s handwriting and drawing. There is a strong sense of a love of learning in the children at St. Bernadette’s.

Students always feel safe and secure, but are encouraged to grow and try new experiences. Mrs. Hanson and Mrs. Amond instill a sense of respect for self and others. We appreciate how they continue to support the values we work on at home. “Please” and “Thank You” are regular occurrences, no matter the audience, adult or peer. Students enjoy learning with each other and working together to grow.

We have found the experience exemplary and look forward to continuing our daughter’s education at St. Bernadette Catholic School.
