PTO Service and Activities

New Families Orientation

Before the school year begins, the PTO Welcome Committee hosts an orientation program to welcome new families, provide some basic information, and answer questions. Typically the Principal, Kindergarten teachers (since most new families will be those of students entering Kindergarten), PTO President, and the PTO Volunteer Coordinator speak to the families. A package of advance information, put together by some thoughtful parents, is provided to offer useful tips to those joining the school family. In addition, parents who will be doing volunteer work with the children are given assistance with completing the paperwork and procedures for complying with the Child Protection and Safety Program.

Uniform Exchange

Used uniform articles that are clean and in good condition may be turned-in at any time during the school year. Used uniform items may be purchased for $1.00.

Cultural Arts Program

The PTO sponsors and coordinates the presentation of four to five cultural arts programs each year for the students.  The programs range from musicians, dancers and historians to storytellers, jugglers, and magicians.  These performers come from around the country, even the world, to entertain and educate our children.

Faculty and Staff Appreciation

Each month, we show our teachers and staff how much we appreciate and love them by arranging for breakfast or lunch to be provided in the teacher’s lounge.

Classroom Support

The PTO provides funds directly to the teachers each year for them to use at their discretion to buy supplies for their classrooms.  As the budget allows, the PTO also supports special requests from teachers for learning support items for their classrooms, such as unique furniture, laboratory equipment or supplies.

School Dances

The PTO organizes and sponsors several school dances throughout the year, including a Family Dance for all ages in the Winter and a Middle School Dance for 6-8th Grades in the Spring.

Spirit Nights

The PTO arranges several “Spirit Nights” at local restaurants throughout the school year. Typically held for several hours on a school day evening, these are great social events for the children and even parents.  A portion of the proceeds from food and beverage sales goes to the PTO general fund for use in PTO sponsored events.

The PTO also hosts a Book Night at Barnes and Noble where children can purchase books and enjoy stories being read by their teachers.  A portion of the proceeds from book sales goes to the PTO general fund, and is typically used to purchase books for classroom use as requested by the teachers.

Fall Picnic

The PTO contributes to the annual Parish Fall Picnic where children and parents enjoy fellowship, games, food, inflatables, vendors and crafts.

Christmas Event

On a Saturday in early December, the PTO holds a family event to celebrate Advent and the Christmas season.
