The PTO sponsors the Drama Club, which performs outstanding Christmas pageants in December and a superb Shakespeare play in May of each school year. Well known and not-so-well-known works are cleverly adapted, instructive yet enjoyable rehearsals are held, scenery and props are bought or built, and a wonderful performance is created. The effort is a tremendous experience for the children – after many weeks of work, a "star is born" in each one of them. The performances are very entertaining events for the other school children, the teachers, the parents and friends who see them.
The Winter Play
This production is opened to students in 1st - 8th Grades and involves three to four short Christmas themed plays that are performed for the school (during the school day) and for parents in an evening performance in mid- December. Students rehearse one day a week after school.
The Shakespeare Play
The production is opened to students in 6th – 8th Grades. Its purpose is to expose Middle School students to William Shakespeare’s famous plays and characters. Auditions are held at the end of January/early February and students will rehearse once or twice a week. The students will perform a 30-minute-long play at the Arlington Diocesan Shakespeare Festival held in mid-May and will have the opportunity to see other plays performed by other diocesan middle schools. In addition, the students will present the play for the school (during the school day) and for their parents at an evening performance.
