What does a School Counselor Do?
- Individual Counseling: Helping students with any obstacle that keeps them from being or doing their best.
- Classroom Lessons: Helping all students succeed academically and socially. Grades K-5 are visited at least once a month with a focus on areas such as friendship, character education, and career exploration.
- Small Group Work: Helping groups of students with particular needs in a larger setting, typically for a more extended period of time as needed.
- Consultation: With parents, teachers, or administrators in discussing the challenges students or families may have that would be interfering with a student's academic or social achievement.
